September 12 - 20
August 20 - September 13Assessment: Wednesday, Sept. eleventhThis unit will consist of using picturebooks as mentor texts. When studying fairytales we will use a paired text approach. With practicing point of view we will also be holding discussions on how stories change depending on who is telling the story. For example, in Wizard of Oz a narrator typically tells the story from Dorothy's point of view. How would the story change if the Wicked Witch of the West was telling the story? What might be different? What would be the same? This also provides students with more material for comparing and contrasting paired texts. The titles we will use to introduce and review these skills are pictured below. |
